Wanderer

The poem that inspired the very theme of this blog! I hope you enjoy.

Wanderer
Jonathon Best  ©

Through the forest,
The trees watch cautiously,
A hooded wanderer,
Treads quietly by.

They whisper,
Unknowing.
Their bark,
Crawling.

Is this him?

A pause,
Only a moment,
Sniffing the air.
He walks.

Shadow stretching,
Joining those of the trees,
Cold breath hanging,
Glistening.

The forest grows thin,
Lone trees stand weeping,
Thin branches conduct the light,
Illuminating.

In the distance,
A small silhouette,
The moon holds its breath.

Is this him?
